How Does The Seminar Help?

The Fisher Rebuilding Divorce Seminar is 10-session step-wise program that will help you dissipate the intense emotions you are feeling, learn from what went wrong so you can do things differently next time, and begin to create a new future.

With Jeannine (who is a life, relationship, and grief recovery coach) as your facilitator, Rebuilding Divorce Recovery becomes a complete recovery program - from overcoming/managing the intense emotions of relationship loss, to identifying your next steps, to discovering who you are now as a result of this experience, to creating a powerful future. You will leave with a renewed perspective on your new life.

Feel free to contact Jeannine to talk with her about how this program applies to your unique situation.

See “What you will learn” on this site.

"It is easy to feel as if you are completely alone when going through divorce. Rebuilding graduates have a close network of new friends who are all in the same boat and provide great insight and support. This, and the learning in classes, makes this class a “must attend” for anyone struggling with the end of a romantic/love relationship." -Jerry

"The Seminar has provided me a safe place to explore a new identity - one that understands myself well enough to see how I contributed to my broken love relationship. It has given me the skills to take charge of my future happiness." -Susan

"My Rebuilding experience saved my life. It helped me through the most painful experience of my life, the final certification that my 24-year marriage was over. I shared my difficult journey with others going through similar experiences, others who would become my best friends. This seminar not only helped me survive this difficult ordeal, it also gave me the tools to help me thrive in my post-divorce life. Yes, there is life after divorce!" -Brad

Can I do my own recovery work without the Seminar?

Sure. It happens. But honestly? Most people who attempt the recovery work on their own find that they only achieve partial recovery. Years later the same fears, the same anger, the same tears still plague them and get in the way of future relationship success. Sometimes folks don't even know the issues are unresolved UNTIL they get into a new relationship. The learning you gain in the Seminar can help you clean house now.

Bruce Fisher, creator of the Rebuilding Divorce Recovery program, determined that participating in the 10-week seminar provides more healing and growth than folks can gain in a year or more of personal recovery work. Jeannine's personal observation is that folks who work privately with a therapist along with taking the Seminar make the quickest gains.

Here's what a couple of participants said about taking the Seminar in addition to doing their own private recovery work:

"I worked through the book on my own and wasn't sure I wanted to take the time for the class. I'm so glad I did. It's not possible to do nearly as much on one's own! Plus, the new friendships were an unexpected bonus. It helps so much to hear about the experiences of others to open up and be honest with yourself." - Sandy M.

"I received more help and gained more progress from the ten week ... Seminar than I did from eighteen months of personal therapy and nearly ten years of self help books. The interaction with other adults in the same situation as I, and the tools learned from the instructor, have given me the hope of a future and happiness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." - Ruth Atkinson

How much does it cost?

Maybe some better questions would be:

  • How much is your emotional stability and recovery worth to you?
  • What would it mean to you to have 24/7 support from others who are going through the same things that you are and actually WANT to hear what your crazy ex (or the lawyer, or the kids, or....) did this time?
  • How helpful would it be for you to have half a dozen folks who have been through the Seminar, and their divorces already, come back to counsel and support you?
  • Would it be useful to you to have planned social events with like-minded friends, and an ongoing post-class community?

Some of the folks with whom you go through the Seminar will become lifelong friends. It just happens. It's important to have new friends who support the person you are becoming. You will find them here.

For $394.00 you will receive some of the finest divorce recovery instruction and materials available anywhere in the world for less than $10.00 per hour. (Compare to therapy at $100.00 per hour.) (But please note: that although therapeutic, this is an educational seminar, not group therapy.)

You simply won’t find a better value for your money.

"This is quite possibly the best money I've ever spent." -Chris York

Are there payment plans?

Absolutely. Money can be tight when divorcing, no doubt about that. You may separate your full priced tuition of $394.00 into 3 payments as you decide. The final payment is due and payable before the start of the 8th session. Just let the facilitator know your plan. If this is absolutely unworkable, talk to the facilitator about what you need. She will work with you. (Note: the $394 includes a discount for paying in full at the start of your class. If you need payments just add $15.00 to help with bookkeeping.)

If cost still seems too overwhelming we can offer a couple more ideas:

Bring a friend. If two people register together for the same seminar you can take $25.00 off of each person's tuition fee.

Find a coupon. Because so many people come to class by referral every graduate of Jeannine's seminars receive a $25.00 of coupon to pass on to someone else. You can use one of those if you know a graduate. (Because the sminar is already under priced only one discount per person will be honored.)

Ask for sponsorship from loved ones. Friends and family recognize the hurt you are experiencing. You will be surprised how much those who love you will be willing to help. Just ask them. Divorce recovery is a far better use of your time and money than, say, dealing with depression, out of control anger, bar hopping or drugging (both legal and illegal) to relieve the pain. People will help.

Put yourself at the top of your priority list. Do you routinely deny your own needs and put everyone else first? Maybe it’s time to say, “I need this. I deserve this. I’m going to get this for myself, some way, some how.” Sometimes that change of focus/intent is all you need for things to open up for you.

How much time is involved?

The class itself is 30 hours. Ten weeks, three hours a night, and it goes by very quickly. If you desire you can also attend social events that are planned by and for your particular group. Kid friendly events are included as well as adults only events to provide for the adult companionship so many divorcing people need. Attendance at social events is completely optional. Most folks find them a great addition to the class and the recovery process. Everybody needs a new social circle after divorce and these events are a great beginning.

30 hours may sound like a lot at the outset but by far the biggest complaint I get about the Seminar is that it ends too soon. Class night is the highlight of the week for most participants. They wouldn’t miss it. After you get into the routine you will wish that your class could go on for a long time, but that wouldn’t be fair. We have to end your class so others can have their turn.

“I’m amazed at how much better I feel,” is a very common comment that I hear. This format provides the time needed for the important shifts to take place.

"I have already noticed a huge difference in my day-to-day thinking about things and in the briefest of moments I am able to catch a glimpse of what freedom will be for me - and I already love it. I don't really know how or why this whole Rebuilding thing is working, I just know it is, and after just a few weeks into it, I would highly recommend you and it to anyone!! Thank you for being awesome!! - Julie B

Will I like it?

Those who take the Seminar not only like it, they love it, and wonder how they could have survived their divorce without it.

If you're unsure about the format or what it might feel like to be in the class, it would greatly benefit you to attend the first part of Opening Night. It's complete free of charge and without any expected commitment on your part.

Opening Night is an overview of the program. You will meet the facilitator, the volunteer helpers, others who may attend the class along with you, as well as get a sense for the class. The first night of anything is always a little weird, but even so most people feel quite comfortable on Opening Night. I invite you to come check it out.

You can read the testimonials of folks who have been through the program to gain an understanding of their personal experience. Odds are pretty good that you will like it.

You can also have a personal conversation with your facilitator, Jeannine. She’s glad to talk to you about your concerns and how the Fisher Divorce Recovery Seminar might be of help to your unique situation. If it does not seem like a fit for you she has other resources to which she can refer you.

"I have grown so much during the past 10 weeks. I know I would still be in debilitating emotional pain if I had not come here and shared with others. I thank God everyday for this class." -Christine Vigorita

"Very helpful; very considerate environment to be in while going through a very tough time. A great deal of learning took place while being nurtured from a broken heart. -Peter Lyon

Why Jeannine?

Divorce recovery programs are becoming more popular but not all facilitators are created equal. Each facilitator brings their unique talents and perspectives to the program. As a life coach Jeannine brings a very different approach to a recovery process which has typically been led by therapists.

She does not believe that divorcing people are broken but instead believes that you are resourceful, whole, and completely capable of creating a life that is better than you ever imagined... and since you probably don't believe that yourself just yet, you can lean on her faith in you until you discover that faith for yourself.

Below are comments from referring professionals, from past participants, and from those who have returned to assist classes subsequent to their own. See also "What Professionals Say" for divorce attorney's comments about Jeannine.

Why choose Jeannine?

"Jeannine, you are a blessing to many. Your need, willingness and desire to change your life has resulted in the positive change in many lives and the ripples from the stone you threw into the water will continue to wake many up to their own journey. Thank you for beginning this process of love and caring by taking the first step in your life. Happy continued journey..."

-Pam H, class participant

"I have had the most amazing experience. The class taught me that I can be a better stronger person and I will make it after my divorce. My new friends, the volunteers and most importantly Jeannine held me up when I needed it most. I have lifelong relationships that I will treasure forever."

-Kim DeRoo, class participant

"Jeannine Lee has personal experience with divorce, and is a master at creating a safe and secure environment to both provide the tools and allow people to go through the process at their pace. Expect the utmost of integrity and respect of your individual process, because that’s what you’ll get from Jeannine’s divorce seminar."

-Jeff Jones MA, CACII, referring therapist

"As a graduate and former volunteer of the ... Program, I have experienced different [facilitator] styles and approaches to the delicate challenge of guiding people through a difficult time in their lives. I have seen what works, and what does not. I was fortunate to be a classmate and fellow volunteer with Jeannine, and found myself looking to her for insight and advice. I am even more fortunate now to call her a friend, and still look to her for sage advice. Her experience and wisdom are invaluable, her genuine concern and gentle nature wrap you in safety and warmth.

The Rebuilding Program can provide you with the tools to fix, heal, and move on with life after a loss. There is no one better to guide you through this program, and teach you these tools, with more grace and individual attention, than Jeannine. The Rebuilding Program has never been better than now, with Jeannine's approach."

- Todd Ulrich, class participant and past volunteer

"Jeannine brings something special and comes at divorce recovery from a very different, and updated, perspective. She took her personal experience, her certifications in Life Coaching, grief recovery and relationship building and other studies to revise and update the basic 1970s vintage Rebuilding [when your relationship ends program].

Although her class looks at the past it focuses on the future...what might be\will be\can be for each of us. Her teaching comes directly from the heart...wanting and challenging each person, participants and volunteers alike, to get the most out of each class. Sharp and full of insights she inspires, by personal example, everyone to work just a little bit harder and get further along that climb to freedom."

- Scott Henderson, class participant and past volunteer

"Jeannine clearly cares deeply about her work as a facilitator of the Fisher Rebuilding Program. She brings not only joy and passion to her facilitator role but she is also generous with her time by email and phone. The energy and time she puts in shows me that for her this work is a labor of love first, and a job second. She is able to be insightful about each participant and their particular situation and I think that everyone in the class feels that they're being given the kind of nudging they need as well as feeling nurtured."

- Chandi Wyant, class participant

"Divorce is much tougher than I expected, and doubly so when it's not a clean mutual break up, so I was very glad to find Jeannine and get involved with her Divorce Rebuilders class. It was a tremendous experience for me and has really helped me heal some of the wounds. In fact, I appreciated it so much that I subsequently volunteered for another class, which was a very different, but also valuable experience."

Still unsure?

What is it worth to you to feel better?

To have a group of friends who completely understand and support what you're going through? To learn what went wrong in your relationship and have tools to do better next time? Fisher Divorce Recovery is more than a class. It is a complete recovery package, the full benefit of which you won't fully comprehend until you participate. Check out the myriad of testimonials to get an idea of the impact it has had on others.

The thought of being with strangers while going through such a traumatic life experience as divorce can be overwhelming. "I don't know these people," is a common concern. Be assured that everyone feels that way to some degree. The Rebuilding Divorce Recovery Seminar is a place where you can be completely yourself, you don't need to dress up. It doesn't matter if you can't stop crying and your makeup is running, or if you're afraid of your own anger. It is a non-dating venue, which offers a lot of safety to just be you. Just come. You'll be glad you did. I hope to see you at the next class.

Where are you in your recovery process?

To get a more tangible picture of where you are with the emotional divorce you may want to take the Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale, which was developed by Dr. Bruce Fisher in the 1970's to measure your level of emotional recovery from the loss of your relationship. The test measures recovery in 6 key areas. If your scores are in the lower ranges it would really serve you to attend a live seminar. It is not unusual for folks to gain up to 80 points on their FDAS scores from the beginning to the end of their class. Dr. Fisher noted that folks who participate in the live seminar recover in 10 weeks what others take to a year or more to recover on their own.

The FDAS is free to Seminar students twice during the course. You will be given a student workbook, written by Dr. Fisher, to access the test on the first night of class.

Help for your next relationship:

Some participants have said that if they had known what they were learning in the divorce recovery class while still married it may have saved the marriage. It is an inside joke amongst graduates that the course may not have saved your last marriage, but it might save your next one.

Be sure to call Jeannine with any questions or concerns. She can help you decide if Fisher Divorce Recovery is for you, and if it is right for you at this time. If it isn't, she has a variety of other resources to which she can refer you.

Hope to see you in the next class!
